Stephen Fry Texts by Petry, Dr Aaron Rose, Dr Daniell Cornell and Rick Herron To coincide with Petry’s one man exhibition In League with Devils at the Dadian (Gallery Henry Luce III Center for the Arts & Religion, Washington, DC) the new hardback of the same name (ISBN: 978-1-912800-09-4) explores Petry’s work for the exhibition as well as projects from 2012 - 2023. The books also features text by Petry about the various works included as well as his own documentary images of the pieces. The full colour book (172 pages) is richly illustrated (149 images) by installation views of his many museum and gallery projects (Pallant House, The Holburne Museum, Palm Springs Art Museum) as well as details of individual works for private collectors and international shows (The Venice Biennalle, Alentejo Trienal, Joshua Treenial). The book also includes an image of Petry’s first NFT of a new online virtual reality mirror exhibited at VOMA (the Virtual Art Museum) in conjunction with the Dadian show. This deluxe edition contains an original, unique work inserted at the front in 24K gold leaf

Michael Petry (Texas, 1960) and has lived in London since 1981. He is an internationally exhibited multi-media artist, and was the first artist in residence at Sir John Soane's Museum, London. Petry's book include 'The Art of Not Making' (2011) and 'Nature Morte'(2013) for Thames & Hudson. He had a one man show 'The Touch of the Oracle' at the Palm Springs Art Museum (2012) and has a new installation 'AT the core of the Algorithm' (2014) now on at the Glazenhuis, Lommel, Belgium. Petry is represented by the Sundaram Tagore Gallery (New York, LA, Hong Kong), the Hiram Butler Gallery (Houston) and The Westbrook Gallery (London), Zane Bennett (Santa Fe) and Melissa Morgan (Palm Dessert). Petry co-founder of the Museum of Installation, and lectures part time at the Royal Academy Schools where he is the Curator of the Schools Gallery. Petry co-authored Installation Art (1994), and Installation in the New Millennium (2003), and authored Abstract Eroticism (1996) and A Thing of Beauty is...(1997). A monograph of his recent artistic practice - The Trouble with Michael - was published by Art Media Press (2001). Petrys book Hidden Histories: 20th century male same sex lovers in the visual arts (2004) is the first comprehensive survey of its kind, and accompanied the exhibition Hidden Histories he curated for The New Art Gallery Walsall. His installation and two-volume book Golden Rain was part of the On the Edge exhibition for Stavanger 2008, European Capital of Culture.
