About The Artwork

The artwork presented is a cornucopia of aerial machines, suspended in a serene, earth-toned landscape that harks back to the Renaissance in its composition and depth, yet propels the viewer into a futuristic realm through its content. The style is reminiscent of classical paintings, but the content is unmistakably modern, if not futuristic, blending the past and the future in a seamless tableau. Inspiration: The work may draw inspiration from the pioneering spirit of early aviation and the inventive minds behind it, like Leonardo da Vinci and the Wright brothers. The composition's calm orderliness suggests influence from Renaissance art, while the subject matter—airships of varied and imaginative designs—echoes a steampunk aesthetic, which itself is inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Viewer Reaction: Viewers may feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with anticipation. The serenity of the landscape, combined with the whimsical chaos of the flying machines, may inspire a contemplation of humanity's progress and our age-old desire to conquer the skies. There's an invitation to dream, to imagine the possibilities beyond our current technology and to reflect on the intersection of human creativity and the natural world. Choice of Medium, Subject Matter, Style: The mixed medium of inkjet printing on archival art paper with acrylic finishing ensures a high-quality, long-lasting print, where the nuances of color and detail are preserved. This choice is fitting for a work that seems to traverse time, connecting the golden age of discovery with the digital age. The subject matter, an armada of fantastical airships, is a tribute to human ingenuity and a reminder of our perpetual quest to explore and innovate. The hyper-realistic style, akin to digital renderings, is intentional, allowing viewers to delve into a world that is as detailed and tangible as it is imaginative and unreal.

I explore the aesthetic of things through absurd, irony, abstract, and misplaced situations. In my early thirties, I joined the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the long history of the former Soviet Union. In St. Petersburg the group of artists founded the Society of Experimental Fine Arts and gave regular art exhibitions of a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. Throughout the 1980's, my paintings were regularly shown at art exhibits. My artistic practice explores the conceptual aesthetic of things through absurd, irony and misplaced situations. It includes photo, painting, graphics, and sculpture. Since 2000s I have also been working in digital art and digital photography. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, today I additionally use various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI for creating art works. My works are in Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Museum of Nonconformist Art (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) and private collections in Russia, Spain, USA, Israel, France. From March 2022 I’m based in Spain. Web site: https://serge-yablonsky.co/ Arte Laguna World artist profile: https://artelaguna.world/artist/yablonsky-sergey/
