About The Artwork

I create work through the medium of weaving. I am passionate about my artistic process and would like to change peoples perception of the hand weaving process to something more contemporary. I aim to create unique modern wall-based textile artworks that mimic growth patterns seen in Australian fauna and flora. I have always been fascinated by the marks and protective surfaces that exist in nature. Particularly drawing inspiration from the gum tree bark and the marks and patterns created by the Scribbly Gum Moth as it travels its way around the tree. Using element from the French technique of Passementerie and handweaving, I aim to create the continuous lines and movement created in nature. I like to combine natural materials such as linen, Japanese Paper yarn, leather and horsehair with manmade materials such as elastic, monofilament and paracord. My woven wall art comes with a high-quality acrylic hanging rod, some are woven into the work and others are attached after being removed from the loom.
