About The Artwork
This artwork is one that's developed further from my basic abstract works I began in early 2016, of numerous forms of bold colours, patterns with textural effects, being rough edged, wavy, varied horizontal bands. This particular one has the addition of 'strange' figures, to shapes that are a part of the whole image. Reactions by viewers have used terms as 'playful' or 'whimsical', added to 'bold' & 'colourful'. There's some subtle illusion of depth, happened by chance, but not as much as in my strictly 'abstract' art with horizontal forms and patterns. I've been inspired by ancient rock carvings and painting, esp. by aboriginal people in Canada. Also, I'm sure I have also been influenced by street art, graffiti, much that I've documented in my world travels. This piece is similar to my 'Cosmic Figures & Forms' artwork.
