About The Artwork

This work expresses fragments of “song” with a matte texture while keeping the colors vivid by using an absorbent base. I challenged myself to express quietness and movement by layering collage materials to create a bouncing musical scale and an overlapping musical scale that lingers in the ear. Songs have rhythms, and moments of play and moments of silence overlap to create the sound of the moment. I cut out fragments of these moments and expressed them in this work. Songs have words, and sometimes we are moved by those words. There are not only musical scales, but also things that resonate. Then there are times in those words, and the thoughts of the people who live in those times. What kind of things are contained in the “songs” that live in our time? I believe that there is a freedom there that can be captured in a thousand different ways.

Mikoto Fuku is a painter who paints “pictures that are detached from the physical body. Until now, I have painted pictures of parts that somehow, someway seemed human. This has changed to a kind of exploration of the inner world, away from its outer frame. My expression of the unseen, the emotion of feeling something, is based on curiosity and exploration. Our moods change with the weather, our moods change with the slightest wording in conversation, and our moods change with our own actions. Feelings change in many ways, and emotions are richly expressed in the mind. The act of expressing again in a different form what has once been expressed in the mind may not be spectacular or fresh. Nevertheless, the reason why I reconstruct the expression of my feelings is because I am seeking a “normal life. It varies from person to person, but for me, “normal life” is rich and peaceful. I hope you can feel that kind of richness and peace. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
