Tradition I initiates a series of several embroidery works. I needed 4 months to complete this handmade artwork. Embroidery is a traditional craft which can be found in prestigious museums as the V&A, or in many homes, as a more mundane practice linked to folk art. For many people, it embodies a normalised image of what the past used to be or should have been. This series will present objects that I consider part of our history, but nowhere to be found in museums or homes. Many couples used to be offered art works representing gods couples, mainly Mars and Venus. This embroidery could be such an object, but this time it suggests a couple formed by Apollo an Dionysus. Beauty and madness, icon and iconoclasm seems to me both essential to art and life, as to happiness and love.
