I approach my work as play in the sense that I am always in pursuit of the perfect expression of an idea. Is it a mark made in haste to express brevity? Or one that takes more time and care to craft in an effort to express the passage of time or growth? Maybe a sharp, thin line that cuts over, through, or behind to express heightened energy? Or one thick and bold enough to cover every other line that came before it to express stature and triumph? In asking questions such as these, I’m feeding my curiosity about the many ways in which we can capture the essence of an idea and how we can then use this to suspend ideas in space and time, giving them tangible form. Brit Webber is a visual artist and designer whose work explores the ways in which we capture the essence of ideas through marks, colors and compositions. Her work is largely influenced by the conceptual foundations of architectural design, graphic design, and pattern making and although she works primarily in acrylic, she often infuses other media such as graphite, oil pastels, and ink to emphasize contrasting ideas or details.
