About The Artwork
In the northern part of South Korea, near the border with North Korea, lies a region that serves as the backdrop for my artistic exploration. Here, an observatory provides a remarkable vantage point to witness the untouched beauty of nature within the DMZ, where humanity's divisions are suspended, if only for a moment. Boundaries are human constructs, imposing rules and restrictions on the free flow of existence. Yet, amid this human-made divide, nature persists defiantly. Grass and trees continue to grow, birds effortlessly traverse the invisible barrier, and life thrives amidst the perceived silence. As I stand at the boundary, a quietude envelops me, offering a glimpse into a realm teeming with hidden life. In this hushed space, a multitude of beings emerge and endure silently, untouched by the noise of the world. They remind us that life, resilient and adaptable, transcends the limitations we impose. While we coexist with tangible and intangible boundaries, close observation reveals the potential for these barriers to crumble when beings collide. It is in these transformative encounters that new forms emerge, birthing a tapestry of interconnectedness. Through shared experiences and understanding, we can forge a path towards harmonious coexistence, transcending the fear of the unknown. My artwork seeks to peel back the layers of my own world, beckoning me to embrace the unfamiliar and discover the beauty that blossoms in foreign realms. Within its strokes and colors lies an invitation to witness the wonders that unfold beyond our immediate perceptions.
