About The Artwork

Posterized mixed media version of painting 130 cm x 90 cm acrylics on canvas from Habana after the hurricane (2012). This posterized version of the artwork which I painted after a visit to Cuba made it to the frontcover of the "A best practice notebook for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation: Guidance and insights for policy and practice from the catalyst project" published in December 2013 http://www.catalyst-project.eu/doc/CATALYST_D65_Best_Practices_Policy_Notebook.pdf

Zonation paintings focus on integrating and balancing the elements: lines, tones and colours. I follow an expressionist painting philosophy inspired by Cézanne, Kleé and followers. Motives: Copenhagen cityscapes, croquis, stilleben. Artworks in acrylics, oil, aqua oil, multicoloured chalk, aquarelle and pencils. Artist video: http://vimeo.com/5322606 Artist podcast (Fr): http://podcloud.fr/podcast/choses-a-savoir-art/episode/artiste-a-decouvrir-hans-jorgen-henriksen I use the acronym 'de Hansi' in order to distinct my painting activities from my professional work as a hydrologist. I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
