About The Artwork

7th Circle of Hell – Phlegethon 2008 In this work I was influenced by Dante Alighieri and his Divine Comedy, the most important poem of the Middle Ages and the greatest literary work in the Italian language. Divine Comedy, the full epic, was published in 1472, follows Dante’s journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. The Phlegethon is located within the Seventh Circle of Hell, which punishes those who committed crimes of violence against their fellow men; murderers, tyrants, and the like. The portion of the Phlegethon within the Seventh Circle is turned into boiling hot blood instead of fire. Signed using one of my previous aliases ‘Sokolov 2008’. Acrylic on canvas. Sold unframed. W70cm x H50cm x D4cm quality box canvas. Thank you Ben Falconer
