© Copyright Gali Szenkier 2011 ----------------------------------------- Inspired by the nature of human being, the fashion magazines, the movie "The Stepford Wives" and the pre-Columbian culture of god and godess and pre-Columbian ethnic patterns. The time, the obsession, the energy and the money - from plastic surgeries and products to starving to death. The dream nowadays is about realising perfection, practically an unachievable goal, in a "perfect" world that distract us from examining the esence of our own lives.

United Kingdom
Visual artist born in Israel in the Negev desert area but grew up in Montevideo surrounded by the sounds and scents of the Rio de la Plata and the colourful folklore of Uruguay. In her childhood she began her visual arts studies using drawing board and ink and studied painting under the guidance of Clever Lara, she was also influenced by Nelly Halty's distinctive and adventurous style. She studied graphic design at Ort university in Uruguay. Later on she had the great experience of living in Kibbutz Naan in Israel, where she worked under the guidance of Raheli Ben-Avraham at her ceramic studio, creating traditional objects. She had the experience to live in Miami for a brief period, where she came into contact with the artist Antonietta Dorta and spent most of the time at her studio. During the following ten years she worked as a graphic designer in major design studios and advertising agencies in Israel. Relocated again, this time in England, she worked in London, where she lived for six years, infected by the excitement of the contemporary art scene. There, she continued to develop her skills, pursuing studies in screen printing, painting, drawing and mixed media at Central St Martins College of Art. From the youngest age she admired Frida Kahlo's art and she has always loved the work of Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol whose vivid use of colour has a source of inspiration to her. Art is her passion. She enjoy exploring a variety of different techniques, inspired by the intensity and vibrancy of colour. Gali's art is a reflection of the outside world and the inner self.
