About The Artwork
This is a painting is in mixed paint on panel. Added to it is a small pigmented plaster piece (a cut profile of typical 70's white girls figurine) made in different layers. Africa's Antiquated Autonomy is a trinity of an eroded/sanded abstract layered texture, a realistic painted African mask and the plaster segment. It is a work about the idea of the loss of culture and sovereignty of African tribes, states and the continent as a whole by means of violence, power and money of the West.
