Alone in the storm Painting

A strong wind sweeps over the swamp. The rain-laden clouds rush by, the mountains look like lead. The reeds bend until they touch the ground, one close to the other. There are many of them, and the rustle of their leaves adds to the hiss of the wind. Above them is a tree, with a slender trunk. Its foliage desperately fights the wind. He is alone, there are no other trees nearby. And alone he must endure. It happens to everyone that they have to face difficult moments and adversity in life. And sometimes one has to fight alone, just like that slender tree. Created in the studio in December 2022, this painting is a reworking of several studies executed en plein air. The work is painted in oil on Masonite, a panel made of pressed wood fibres. Masonite is a material widely used by artists in the first half of the 20th century as a support for their paintings because it is extremely resistant and crushproof. I love painting on this material because its very smooth surface allows me to achieve effects that cannot be achieved on other materials. I also have the guarantee of high durability. The signature is in the bottom right-hand corner. The painting is protected by a layer of satin acrylic varnish. The work comes with a thin wooden frame in natural colour to protect the edges. It is ready to hang. "Alone in the storm" is a faithful translation of the original Italian title "Solo nella tempesta".
