The inspiration for "Amidst the Urban Storm" came from the everyday scenes of city life, where the constant hustle and bustle create a dramatic backdrop for individual stories. The woman on the bicycle, seen from behind, represents the countless individuals who navigate the chaos of urban life daily. Her solitary figure amidst the throng of busy city streets and people is a tribute to the resilience and determination of those who find their path in the urban jungle. This piece was also inspired by the contrast between the anonymity of the crowd and the unique journeys of individuals within it. I hope viewers will feel a sense of empathy and reflection when they see this painting. The contrast between the busy city and the lone cyclist aims to evoke thoughts about personal journeys, resilience, and the courage it takes to move forward amidst chaos. I want viewers to consider their own experiences and challenges in navigating the complexities of urban life. The painting is intended to stir a sense of connection with the anonymous figure, reminding us of the shared human experience within the bustling environments we inhabit. I chose acrylic paints for this piece due to their vibrant colors and versatility, which are perfect for capturing the dynamic energy of a cityscape. The medium allows for bold brushstrokes and detailed layering, reflecting the textured complexity of urban life. The subject matter – a lone woman on a bicycle – was selected to symbolize movement, resilience, and individuality. The style combines realism with impressionistic elements to emphasize the flow and energy of the city, creating a visual metaphor for the storm of urban existence. This approach aims to balance the detailed depiction of the city with the emotive portrayal of the solitary figure, offering both a realistic and an evocative experience

Born in 1970 in a family of ceramic artists, Georgian painter Otar Imerlishvili is known for his whimsical scenes that depict daily life through the colored lens of innocence and wonder. Travel, love-making, bathing, dining and dancing are all part of the visual narrative. In some paintings, grassy grounds and multistoried houses are set on top of each other – cities become towers. Often they simply turn into men – one city meets another city in a friendly handshake. “From sublime dreamscapes to idiosyncratic family portraits and detailed images inspired by my childhood, my work is both contemporary and symbolic of the traditions of Georgian life. My main inspiration is the set of stories from my own life – my childhood and the everyday being of my city, Tbilisi,” says the artist. Born on 2nd January 1970
