About The Artwork
Anthophilous - surrounded by flowers This piece represents my love story. A flower for all the loves of my life that I genuinely love, loved, lust, lost and miss. I’m lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful “flowers.” Flowers that bloom in different seasons. Flowers that require little maintenance that stay beautiful throughout the entire year. Other flowers that only bloom once a year. Roses that can make a statement independently. An arrangement of flowers that need accents and biennials that are short lived, but just as breathtaking even for just a moment. Attractive blooms and alluring foliage that are actually poisonous. The carnivorous plants and hard to manage flowers that spread like weeds. And my favorite “flowers” that died last fall always return in the spring. I love you all. You deserve Versace. You deserve the trophy.

American artist Lamar Jones, uses themes of love, light and darkness in his work, blending pop-realism with expressionism. His concepts touch the fragility of life and the beauty of nature against the soulless uniformity of the urban world. Inspiring through art activism, his most recent work gives an abstract interpretation on politics and social injustice. I like to manipulate the familiarity of iconic characters, to give my art a nostalgic feeling. At the same time, twist the suggestive narrative to a visceral topic, to create a mature conversational piece. My work is influenced by everyday life. Sometimes I find inspiration through my muse. I often find inspiration through nature and my personal opinions that I feel are relatable. For me, art is about the vibe. My goal for every piece is to provoke thought. I create to speak a visual language of love and silent protest.
