Maria Sobral Mendonça, May 8th, 1963, Lisbon, Portugal. Painter, Designer and Publicist. Attended the Design Course at IADE; Attended the Painting Course at ARCO; Attended the Multimedia Course at INESC, Lisbon.Maria Sobral Mendonça is an important reference in the Portuguese panorama of contemporary art. The strong relationship between her work and the space where it is exhibited stands out in her trajectory. Her exhibitions have always taken place in Monuments and Churches, challenging spaces opened to her artistic creativity. Her relationship with national monuments started in 1994, at Panteo Nacional in Lisbon. Shes always looking for artistic interdisciplinary in her exhibitions, by inviting several artists from different areas and nationalities.The highlight of her work for Instituto Portugus de Museus is the exclusive design of a set of beer glasses with thematic custom designs for each Museum. The reproductions of their own paintings in porcelain and glass objects can be found in many points of sale: Museums, Monuments, the shop of Fundao do Centro Cultural de Belm, Museu da gua, Museu da Marioneta, Museu do Fado, Padro dos Descobrimentos, Castelo de So Jorge, design and interior design shops, national artists shops and the National Monuments shop network.She has been developing national campaigns to promote products, brands and personnel marketing in different areas like politic marketing, educational and cultural actions.In 1999 gets the Certificat de Distinction from Association Internacionale ds Arts Plastiques auprs de L Organisation ds Nations Unies pour l ducation, la Science et la Culture / UNESCO.Was invited to be a member of the Jury of the international exhibition that celebrates the V Centenrio do Nascimento de S. Francisco Xavier, who took place in 2005 and 2006 at Cordoaria Nacional, in Lisbon, by the Exhibition Commissioner Professora Doutora Natlia Correia Guedes.Member of the Jury of V Festival de Cinema e Vdeo O Castelo em Imagens Portel 2007 invited by the Festival Director Filmmaker Lauro Antnio.In 2008 a film about her work was included on the exhibition of Portuguese Films from the Filmmaker Lauro Antnio at Sarajevo International Festival.Since 2006, Portuguese Community Government Secretary, Mr. Antnio Braga, uses reproductions of her paintings on canvas and on design porcelain pieces and the Tikkun exhibition catalogue as excellence gifts on his cabinet official state visits.
