AURORA Painting

“AURORA” (white bull) stands in front of a dark landscape waiting for the break of the sun on the horizon. The gold gilded clouds behind him heralding bursts of light waiting to spill over the dark landscape: A Golden Dawn awaits filled with new promise and hope. “AURORA” – the title is the latin word for dawn and then also the name of the goddess of dawn in Roman Mythology. In some religions cattle are sacred. For example, the Sumerian religion reveres Marduk, Utu's bull. In Hinduism, Shiva's Bull is Nandi. And then think of the constellation of Taurus (♉︎). It dates back to the early Bronze Age and so the bull has been 'relevant' to many throughout the ages. "AURORA” like all of my other paintings were made with oils. Because oil paint has the most vibrant and deepest of colors. My personal experience is that oils are richer than acrylics." "As for the gilding? Gold is one of the oldest metals with many symbolic meanings. In this case the gold represents the sun, its richness and warmth; for others it is a symbol of wealth and power; and also wisdom and knowledge."
