The central aspect to my work is the human condition, specifically the female figure as a symbol for the passage of time, emotional depth and love, which for me resonates with everyday life as a wife and mother. I studied fine art at the University of Hertfordshire, achieving a BA Honours in 1997 and a Masters degree in 2006 and from my earliest paintings I had this interest in portraying the emotional side of life, it was always there. So, it is important for me to say something about that and I very much like the idea that I can say it in a painting, this is the driving force that makes me want to go into my studio and keep working. I am inspired by the human figure and endeavour to create a window on a moment in space and time, allowing the figure to become timeless and universal.
