After moving to the Isle of Wight in 2016 I set out to explore the Island on foot from my studio in the centre to the sea and back again, in all compass directions, beginning a new body of work responding to the Isle of Wight landscape.
The 2017 Quay Arts Open exhibition was titled ‘I must down to the seas again’ - I entered two paintings and was awarded first prize of a solo exhibition in the West Gallery. After 18 months of development, in 2019 I presented BEARINGS; a new body of work exploring my connection with the Island’s land and seascapes.
My responses to places are developed in series or as installations, representing the way I experience the land and sea – not just looking at it, but moving through it, being in it.
