About The Artwork
The abstract mind reflects an abstract objectified world of nature as a means to be exploited. Abstraction through my figurative work allowed me to see with my mind deeper where I move my body through the abstract poses to bring out the power pose. This art series interprets perception, a departure from our commitments to what we think is the norm, and goes into a deeper level of how we hold our bodies and the overall physical form of an individual. Posture can convey a wealth of information about how a person is feeling. Not just that. The specific pose hints at confidence, openness, or being submissive to live. The stories behind the paintings signify the changes in one's life. When you lose your comfort zone, you are left with a blank canvas to paint your new story, to walk your walk, and not walk someone else's walk. Life reminds me of off-grid living, and countryside living, where things are rough, and you have to get up early to get things done. You know life is harsh like that, just from another perspective. But we all need to wake up that morning to feed our own " cattle" to have other possibilities to survive. All those poses and objects I have painted or sculpted for this art series are synonyms for the powerful life one chooses to live.

My art practice is not imagined but a matter of being. It is an inner call that paints my story as a woman, vocalized through portraits and figures. Women are the protagonists of my work, with a reflection on human rights, empowerment, and the ability to break through barriers. My women are strong characters who have an energy of raw emotion and are not afraid to expose their true selves. Female figures manifested in quirky personas, showcasing their unique identities and attitudes, are at the core of my work. I want to celebrate these women, showing their confidence and ability to push through the norms of ordinary life. I believe growth begins when we escape our comfort zone. That awkward moment where challenging the unknown, and facing it head-on, propels us with strength and perseverance. Color plays a pivotal role in my work. With saturated and intense colors, the viewer can be captivated by the bold females in their glory. They live in vivid fantasies, surrounded by unusual objects and symbols that reflect the characteristics of their story and my own. The disparities of race or color undefine the portraits, contoured with heavy brushstrokes and transparent faces. My encounters with different cultures have inspired me to create a modern woman as a kaleidoscope of worldly thoughts, emotions, and experiences. These canvases are a liberation. They speak freely from the heart, with women who follow their dreams and are anything but ordinary.
