I work with dreams and have written them down since I was a teenager. And this was a dream which first became a short story, then a long story and finally a painting. Here is an excerpt from 'Simon and the Sleeper Stone' it's when the Blind Angel appears: "... I have the feeling that something else is around me - something that can see me but I cannot see it, or whatever it is. Though then I hear it: a sound like a curtain ripping into two; silk being torn before you make it into a dress. I turn around and there it stands - the most massive angel, as high as a mountain, as tall as the sky. A stone angel, resting both hands on the hilt of its sword, wings resting on his back, all of grey stone. I stand in the shadow of the angel and stare up into the sky that is its face. “Fucking hell,” I whisper, “what is that?” This angel also has a sound like a hum, or more like a power station, I think to myself, ... And then I see the massive shadow move. I look up, and the eyes of the angel are suddenly very close to me. “Do I see you?” asks the angel and his voice rolls like thunder across the desert lands. I stay quiet. If the angel asks that means he it doesn’t see me, I think. And I keep my mouth shut. “Do I see you?” asks the angel again. I stay quiet, because I don’t speak to angels with swords. I am a pacifist and I will not have anything to do with angels who can’t see properly but still have a sword. Then I wonder: how come a blind angel has a sword? But the blind angel asks me a third time: “Do I see you?” I stay quiet, because if he asks me whether he can see me he cannot see me, and that is the angel’s problem and not mine. I personally can see the angel quite clearly. And it’s something I am not very keen on. And it actually has quite a smelly breath. I also notice that the angel has no pupils: The angel’s stony eyes are bleak stretches of grey." From 'The Simon Papers', a collection of Stories (forthcoming)

I am a self-taught artist. I am interested in fairy tales and ancient myths. I explore displacement, identity construction, layers of history and memory. I enjoy working with images from dreams and nightmares. Presently I work on the ‘From Line to Colour’ project - where I explore the pleasure of colour and line, moving into surrealist automatism which is surprisingly structured when focussing on dreams. Recent work: “Floating Islands”. Refugees and displaced people become 'floating islands' in our time - cut off from what they knew and loved. "Longing for HomeS Project" consists of' a collection of photo and poetry' books on the subject of where is my ‘Home’. In nine publications combining painting, drawing and writing I explore my own feelings of ‘belonging’ within three European countries. I also write poetry, feminist romantic novels and utopian -distopian texts I often move between art forms.
