Burn (prophet) Painting

A painting of a campfire, I thought I could see an incomplete chinese character for happiness described by the unburnt logs. My empathy and violence project led me to consider passion, interwining, fire, volcanoes. So i dug this photo out and painted it in a couple of hours using venetian red on a pine board given me by a friend. I then roughly mixed titanium white, cadmium yellow, cadmium orange and painted it on thick, quick and expressively. loading the brush with orange, the dipping in pale tint of yellow to get the graduation streaks and flickers. Trying to trust the outcome of the brushstrokes and not fuss too much.Leave to dry a few days and then glaze ultramarine and liquin the dark surround, and with palest tint of ti-oxide ultramarine the white heart of the fire. I was surprised to see a prophet emerge, silhouetted by a burning bush.
