About The Artwork

My process is both practical and mental even if 80% of my creative process is lead by intuition. I associate colours to memories. My work is attached to storytelling, there is always a narrative in each artwork even if it is abstract. Each memory I collect deep inside of me and each colour I use is linked to a place, a time and a story. I observe and try to remember it - then I translate it in my artwork with shapes and colours. Deep inside of each paintings, you will find a story. These narratives are from my personal experiences and also my environment, my observations. Synaesthesia is a huge part of my work. I connect shapes to emotions, emotions to colours, colours to narratives. Subconscious is also a way for me to get to abstraction. "Chasing By The Sun" was inspired by the observation of lights. This is the story of a colour chasing the sun to appear and exist. It questions also the impermanence of things and the mystery of our senses.

Anysia Nefissi (born 1991 in Paris) is a French visual artist. After living and working in London, she set up her studio at L’Éclair, an art collective space next to Paris. Working with colour, matter and form, Anysia Nefissi is interested in the non-perceptible and the invisible, immersing herself in the heart of the quantum. Between abstract painting and installations, she transcends the limits of physical elements in a new way, making the invisible visible. Her whole work examines real substances not perceived by the human eye, exploring themes such as time, space, light, the sensory, memory, nature, energy and emotion. With an aim to leave a mark on time and space, her practice is expressive and contemplative, encouraging introspection and sensory experimentation. The artist questions our reality by looking at the concept of duality and the tension, the paradox that exists between the notions of visible and invisible, material and immaterial, body and mind, light and shadow, empty and full, present and absent, attraction and repulsion, weightlessness and anchorage, and known and unknown. The forms reveal themselves in a play of movements and gestures in a slow, meditative temporality. Her work is made up of transparencies and dissolutions, blurs and accumulations. Her paintings and installations seem inhabited by a physical presence in the world. Anysia Nefissi projects us into an unfathomable reality and invites us to explore an unknown world by questioning the perception of our own existence, beyond the material and the sensible. Nefissi’s paintings are sold internationally and can be found mainly in private collections.
