About The Artwork
In my work, paint is daubed on, one mark at a time, with the end of a chopstick. I chose colors to represent my idea of China (and Chinese silk embroideries), which are randomly placed to create a sense of surprise. Underneath these color daubs is a complex network of color shapes and black lines that evoke a variety of references to journeys, maps, and/or organisms. My paintings tend to be in sets, influenced by the East Asian format of folding screen paintings. And each painted panel is unique and may be viewed from any direction.
