About The Artwork

In the creation process of the composition, I bring together symmetrical points with the asymmetrical, and I join elements of nature with geometry, of order with chaos and the spontaneous gesture with the calmness of precision. All this represents the environment in which I make room for the elevation of the matter abstract with shapes that belong to the transcendental conceptual.

Ataeno (b. 1987) is a visual artist that works and lives in Bucharest, Romania. The symbol is a source of inspiration. The concepts are being simplified and confined in distinct and archetypal forms, revealing the painting as intersection between my researches and interests. One can extract countless conclusions from this dynamic of metaphors and subtleties within the idiosyncrasy of the symbols. It's an invitation to unravel the meanings of the signs, but in the same time asserting significantly the intention of the sensorial feeling. My work oscillates from suprematism to the tendency of complete geometric abstractization and to methaphisical values associated with matter and structures. Nevertheless, going all the way through abstract expressionism. The images I paint are all about duality and about the meeting of two extremities. The paradox is the central point of my attention. All my decision making process regarding the image I want to bring to light spins around the concept of the paradox. I have covered a journey through the knowing of the space between the sign and its meaning – which is the symbol itself. As Mircea Eliade beautifully observed “Not being able to represent the unrepresentable transcendence, the symbolic image is the transfiguration of a representation which reveals a secret significance, it is the epiphany of a mystery." And so, I did explore and exploited it’s visual, esthetic value by including it in varied compositions in the painting. http://aataeno.wixsite.com/ataeno
