The theme of this painting is about the student’s revolution in Chile which is an incredible and large process that is still active very active today. The students basic reasons for fighting are to have the right to have an Chilean education of better quality and that it be funded by the state. A significantly long time has passed by still with out any conclusion given by the government. It has turned out to be a national embarrassment. The painting is a satire of this situation. By presenting the figure of the student waiting like an egg, transformed into a money box that is saving money to afford to be educated, while a rodeo of snails which represent the Chilean politics, slowly going around and around without reaching any kind of solution As this has happened the Chilean flag becomes disfigured.

Profile C O T O 2 O Coto2o is Maidenhead based, Chilean artist, Licensed in Architecture U.Mayor Chile. My training as a painter is grounded in my study of architecture, which has enriched and had a profound influence on my work. This background means that there is a close relationship between my physical and spiritual surroundings and my methodology which is based on my observation of everyday occurrences, and their relationship with broader themes that are of interest to me, creating a fusion of situations and layers that form the basis of my work. Working in both of these disciplines (architecture and art) creates a positive and highly constructive exchange, in which each area opens doors in the other. In my work, I try to make the most of this symbiosis. Painting is a way of expressing my vision of the things around me; I use it as a language through which I can highlight, criticize or even laugh at anything that affects me or crosses my path. These themes vary from the most domestic or mundane through to others which have a more global reach, but all are approached in a very clean and to the point form. Transmitting as much information as possible through an accurate use of color and shape is a central part of my work, and I seek to create a system that the observer can not only follow, but also enter into, becoming an active participant in the narrative. Because of this search for synthesis, my canvases generally feature few elements and only two or three colors, all of which fulfill very specific functions: there is no space for decoration or superfluous elements. http://www.coto2o.blogspot.com/
