About The Artwork
A small fishing boat was departing the marina in Puerto Vallarta and the calm water gently rippled the waves and created beautiful reflections. I couldn't resist applying colorful oil paint for the reflections impasto style with a painting knife while keeping the boat relatively smooth. I hope it makes the viewer want to dip their hand over the boat into the cool water. Is the painting about the boat or about the water? You decide!

I was an art teacher at the secondary level for 33 years and have been an adjunct professor of art for 15 years at Simpson College. I wrote a newspaper column for 29 years in addition to being avserious, practicing artist. Some of my work is based upon my travels while other work is created from my own surroundings. My studio is in Indianola, Iowa were I also enjoy creating beautiful flower gardens.
