About The Artwork
Depth of Tranquility is part of the Dune series, inspired by sand dunes and inlets, shells and rockpools. This huge artwork has several variants of seaweed and coral layered in soft opaque washes of paint to create a striking statement piece. There are highlights of metallic copper as detailed in the numerous closeups. The metallic copper is in 2 different shades and will change depending on the light source and angle of the viewer. It ships rolled in a tube. The full size of the artwork is 87x71.2inches or 221 x 181cm and is painted to the edge - allowing for an ample wrap around a canvas stretcher. This artwork has been cropped to show 82.7x 70 inches -210 x 170cm. The colours are black, ochre, tan, terracotta, creamy beige, dark green, light green, olive, black, 2 shades of copper- one is more a rose gold copper and the other a true copper, and white. I paint, I create and make things that make me happy. Sounds simple enough... but maybe that's what it should be. I was born in Ireland, grew up in Zimbabwe and have lived in the UK,USA and Australia. Meeting new people and exploring where I live inspires much of my work. I create in a medium appropriate to the inspiration. My artwork finds expression in oils, acrylics, charcoal, mixed media and glass. I use print making, stenciling, texture, fabric and transfers to create multi-layered tactile pieces. You will find my unique artwork in offices, hotels, homes, bars and restaurants in Australia, Europe, USA, Canada, China, Singapore and Southern Africa. I have 14 years of experience consulting on various international projects where the work was created to specification as the majority of the projects required custom made artwork. I understand how to evaluate and select materials that align with aesthetics, compliance and individual needs. I am very comfortable with collaborating on a brief and love the cross pollination of ideas that result from co-designing art work.
