Der Devot Painting

My pictures arise from an initial motif that literally captivates me and remains as a focus until the picture is started. I love to paint with oil, because they are supple and can be best processed in the further process of the image with complementary motifs and compositional elements. Each image requires a lot of patience and caution in the making, which can be optimally combined with oil paints. My works are created over several weeks in a Charlottenburg studio in Berlin. I am particularly interested in the contrasts between figurative elements of life integrated into non-logical spaces or landscapes. A form of image emerges that I would like to describe anew with the word "illogic". This illogic seduces to set out visually in the picture. I am always surprised how much time viewers of a picture take to dive into its own world. Over the years, my works have become more colorful and expressive. Each painting consists of many layers. I have been painting since a young age and have returned to painting after my days of motherhood and raising children. For about 20 years, paintings are created with passion and I draw from the work itself and the final picture a great strength and energy. Is a picture ready, the next inspiration is already waiting to be brought to the canvas. I live partly in Berlin and partly in a Brandenburg spa town that was a refuge and retreat for artists and actors of the time in the 1920s.
