About The Artwork

Des adieux difficiles / Difficult goodbyes is an oil painting on canvas created after the loss of a dearest friend. Grief is something we tend to hold tight to, like a reminder of our loved ones or a connection to their memory. Loosening the grip and ultimately surrendering our grief is a necessary process we must go through to once again be whole again... For my beaufiful viewers who'd like to get a smaller size more affordable of this piece, I created a special very limited edition of reproductions, printed on a gorgeous thick museum quality paper (from Hannemühle). Prints are sent in an extremely well protected roll / tube. This very limited series of prints (30) are signed and numbered by the artist. Each one comes with its own Certificate of Authenticity.

The vibrant red colors of Claire Petit's backgrounds remind us that in all circumstances the heart pulsates. In her work, duality breathes deeply, and from one life to the next, powerful feminine energy dominates: moving, introspective, multiple, often wrapped in a gentle violence. Claire is a self-taught painter who lives and works in East of France. Since 1989 she has been traveling and working between France and the United States.  She had her first solo show in 1999 in New York City.  In 2004 her work was represented and exhibited at the Grant Gallery in Soho. In 2005 she left for Mexico, where she maintained a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, her work was represented and exhibited by the Opera Gallery in New York City and Miami. During those years she regularly painted large format in New York. Since 2010 her work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg, Metz.. A book « The twin inside », printed in 2021, reunites 30 years of painting. Contact us to order a copy.
