About The Artwork

The description for Desert No. 2 is that of Desert No. 1. It attempts to convey the dry, barrenness of a desert and the flora that looks dead. My inspiration is the Australian landscape but you may know other places that remind you of the emptiness and barrenness of deserts. The desert mirrors times in life when things are plain, lacking inspiration and seem to go on like this endlessly. There is little sign of life and yet often from some perspectives the desert is also a thing of beauty. Desert scrub denotes a specific type of desert habitat. Sometimes called chaparral, desert scrub habitats cover parts of the North and South American west coasts, the western point of Australia, the area around Cape Town in South Africa, and the Mediterranean coast. This painting represents the desert scrub in Australia.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a colourist. My work explores colour balance, colour contrast and colour relationships. The results are strong vibrant works through to works that are minimalist, subtle and subdued. There are recurring themes of starkness, aloneness, isolation and otherness that reflect my lived experience. While much of my work involves acrylic on canvas and board, I embrace collage and digital painting, mixed media, watercolour and sculpture. I seek to engage with viewers, inviting exploration of the creative process, patterns and markings. Sometime the engagement entails humour. I would like viewers of my work to understand mediums and their meanings. In my mixed media work, I have begun to use found materials, repurposing the mundane and ordinary (for example cardboard) into works that exhibit beauty. My website is: www.trevorroweart.com
