About The Artwork

"Destino" is a thought-provoking impressionist oil painting that captivates the viewer with its enigmatic portrayal of a male figure. The figure, seemingly lying on his stomach, gazes into the distance with a gaze that can be interpreted as either empty or contemplative, leaving the viewer to ponder the true nature of his expression. The decision to leave the interpretation open to the viewer invites a multitude of possibilities. Perhaps the figure is lost in thought, reflecting on past experiences or contemplating the future. Alternatively, his empty gaze could symbolize feelings of ennui or disconnection from the world around him. The title, "Destino," hints at themes of destiny or fate, adding another layer of intrigue to the painting. It suggests that the figure's pose and expression may be influenced by forces beyond his control, or that his state of mind is intricately tied to his journey through life. Altogether, "Destino" is a painting that intends to spark curiosity and invites introspection. Its ambiguous portrayal of the male figure encourages viewers to explore their own interpretations and emotions, making each encounter with the painting a unique and personal experience.

I am a Swiss artist from the region of Fribourg, Western Switzerland. The cubist representation of urban and industrial subjects in the artworks of the American painters Charles Sheeler, Charles Demuth and partially Edward Hopper, influenced me a lot at the time, making me approach this artistic style. Since then the city and nature, in all its forms, remains a great source of inspiration for me. Through my artworks, I exploit the figurative and graphic style close to abstraction but also realism. Oil paint is the essential material I use for my creations, in some cases I use other media and techniques such as acrylic, ink, charcoal, collage and screen printing.
