About The Artwork
I had been playing at the edges of the De Stijl movement, so I decided to go ahead and own it. This one was inspired by Mondrian. As I was painting, I thought the lines looked like asphalt roads. I remembered when they paved our road in front of our house. It was the middle of August and it was blazing hot. The air wasn't moving and the asphalt was even hotter. I named it Dog Days but the painting itself feels cooler and a little happier than the hottest days of the Summer.
