About The Artwork

Jean Édouard Vuillard, (1868 - 1940), is a French painter, draftsman, engraver and illustrator. A founding member of the Nabi movement, he distinguished himself in figure, portrait, interior, still life, intimate scene, mural composition and theater set painting. Vuillard portrayed many interior scenes, especially with his mother until her death in 1928. The gentle atmosphere of these scenes of daily life, which he made a favorite subject, qualifies him as an "intimate" artist. However, he contested finding the most inspiration in these "familiar places". 8 "Vuillard never had his models pose; he would surprise them at home, in the familiar surroundings. His mother would fill a carafe, K. X. Roussel would read a newspaper, the singer would be at her piano, the businessman at his table, the children at their games, and the painter would tell them: "Don't move, stay like that!". He would then make a sketch and, in this first vision, we could find the whole painting. Some of his works will require months or even years of work, but once completed they will retain the freshness of the first vision" (Antoine Salomon).

I am a passionate Dutch portraitist who lives and works in France (Blois). I paint personalities and people who touch me, inspired by their talent and vision of life. My paintings are a tribute to these artists of all kinds, authentic, pure and, in my opinion, talented. I started with figurative Portraits. Now I am experimenting with pop art and contrasting colors. I like to work in series: Forever 27, Jazz musicians and singers, Impressionist Painters, Pop Music Stars, French singing and musical artists. I am happy to share these portraits with you and invite you to discover them here.
