About The Artwork

Equilibrium is an original abstract painting, that depicts the blending of colour that stretches across four separate panels. The paint is layered on top of one another through dynamic and spontaneous movements, creating one coherent piece with a focus of producing depth, and texture. The background layer starts as a rich red that slowly shifts to deep greens and blues, by pulling and pushing the paint with a variety of brush and palate knife strokes. The layer of white is lightly applied with a dry brush over the more vivid and expressive colours, it assists in unifying with the surrounding white border and also leaves the impression of frost. The final or top layer divides the painting into sections casting fabricated shadows to the surface further adding to the dimensions that are present and seen. Four separate canvas panels. The painting is finished with two layers of varnish to protect and ensure the longevity of the piece. The edges of the painting are painted allowing the work to be hung with or without a frame. Initials on front of the canvas, Signature at the back of the canvas.

Jack Ball is a UK based Artist, studying for 5 years and achieving a Masters Degree in the subject of Art and Design. Throughout that time Ball has experimented with numerous techniques and disciplines. Ball has developed a practice that accurately illustrates the natural world using traditional mediums of watercolour or graphite/charcoal. With accuracy being a fundamental aspect of realism, Ball’s practice seeks that precision for the subject matter but also displays the unique qualities of the individual mediums. His practice explores the intimate depiction of nature, ranging from expressive portraiture of wildlife to detailed illustrations of botanical flora. Throughout Ball’s work the use of negative or empty space is common, allowing his figures to stand alone against the absence of a background. Focusing on the subject's texture and form, to produce highly detailed realism that evokes immediate recognition in the viewer, not dependent on whether the piece has been produced in black and white or in colour. Producing imagery that displays knowledge and deep understanding around the chosen subject.
