The german title "Ewige Schande? translates to "Eternal Shame?" and is an ongoing theme for many of my works regardless of the discipline. This painting is comprised of two canvases. A black rectangle is placed on a flesh colored backdrop, in it the shape of angels wings can be made out faintly. Two bare feet are at the bottom of the rectangle, the left one is pierced by a rusty railroad spike with three tags hanging from them. A gold colored swastika can be made out where the spike enters the canvas. Viewing the painting from a distance, and with the help of the outlines of the wings and the marble like feet, we can assume that a human figure was once inside the rectangle, visible, but then a coat of solid black was placed on top. Crude writing in the style of street graffiti art is garnishing the black form. The canvas resembles a plastered wall on which many passerbys have left their mark: pencil, stencil, spray paint, sliced the canvas, inserted objects etc... Numbers with arrows are placed at each corner of the rectangle, the order is clockwise and names have been penciled in onto the arrows. As with my photography projects, this painting examines the traces of WWII, in this case on an autobiographical level of sorts.

Born: 1967, Chandigarh, IndiaProfession: PhotographerResidence: New York CityIn my work I focus on the aesthetic qualities that are found within objects, architectural structures and people. The historical background of these diverse entities creates a common platform. Appearances are shaped and reshaped by significant political and social events. The presented photography projects examine the aspects of layered traces of objects and people. The duality of the process of creation versus destruction composes the theme of my photographs.
