About The Artwork

This is one of the paintings of the Exodus series. I represent the controversial social phenomenon of migration to the US. The main figure in these works are silhouettes. So I am able to represent people who cross the border anonymously, unnoticed, to avoid being rejected, extradited or repatriated. The figure reflects the need to represent the unrepresentable, to give visibility to the presence of an absence. Silhouettes of figures that give back to the country of origin (the observer) and face to make it to the other side, to pursue the American dream, like the promised land.

We have something valuable to contribute to the world through the expression of our personality, is what makes us different from any other living being ... and unique. Through my graphic work I seek to reflect my own vision of identity. The formation of identity is a process that is configured from certain specific conditions of the person from the moment of his birth. On first reading, the focal element, sections of color, catch our hereditaros or inborn traits that form the essence of identity. They are surrounded by abstract monochrome traits representing an environment that has a strong influence in shaping the specifics of each person. The identity is created with the information that comes from our experiences in a process that lasts a lifetime, which is modified and reaffirming, and answers questions who I am, what I am, where I come from, where I'm going. The individuality of expression is the beginning and end of all art. (Goethe)
