I am saddened by the idea of the end of life. This portrait is a kind of lament that it even exists, but more like a full acknowledgement that we do in fact all of us face the end of life issues. Art comforts the disturbed, and disturbs the comfortable. This is on the disturbing side of the equation. And it was not really easy to come to the conclusion that I needed to do this, but it was necessary enough. It's also a concept that I don't need to explain.
