I work with mixed media. Pasta and textiles mixed with paint. It starts just with a surface of colors, forms and textures. There is no goal in the beginning. It literaraly grows and changes during the work. When it shows an element of realism, then I try to express this more and more and gives me inspiration for the way it has to finish.. So this flower started literaly growing during the work. I love to create textures in may different ways. . Sometimes wirh realistic elements,. Nature and Erosion inspire me.

Angelique van den Born was born in 1959 in Amsterdam and now lives and works in Landsmeer, in the vicinity of Amsterdam. After completing the teacher training at the VU University of Amsterdam in Handicrafts and Drawing ,she was teaching this for 17 years at Secundary Schools. Now she focuses her attention upon painting , but is still active as a freelance teacher in Drawing in Primary Education . She also gives creative workshops and courses to both individuals and companies. The phenomenon "sport" has been, since her study, a great source of inspiration. But the subject is of minor importance - painting is her passion. Besides sport, she is also inspired by the Mediterranean countries and the "Antiquity" in wider sense of the word : the Ancient Greek and Romans and also where time has left its mark on nature and culture - erosion and decay. Angelique wants to make visible that what we designate as "ugly" can just be beautiful and fascinating. More and more she is inspired by only the colours, shapes and in particular the structures. Realism is increasingly giving way to abstraction. However realism continues to fascinate her and she enjoys painting people and animals.
