SUZAN SEVO Suzan Sevo realized early in life, that in order to discover one's destiny, it is most important to listen to one's own heart. It was this belief that guided her from the time she was studying music at the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan to pursue her passion for painting through the study of visual arts. Sevo's father was an artist who created precious Florentine mosaics, while her mother was the first female conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra in Armenia. Although her parents encouraged her to pursue her musical talents rather than painting, Sevo remained committed to the pursuit of her dream of becoming a painter and in 1969 her paintings were exhibited for the first time. Today, Sevo's artistry has become a part of hundreds of private collections and is displayed in numerous galleries and museums around the world. She has created an extensive collection of works which are classified into several genres: Portraits, Still Life, Miniatures, Seascapes and Cityscapes. In her Portraits she expresses her philosophy and values through her paintings with the objective of capturing "the human mystery - beyond facial features and lines" by means of her exceptional ability to reveal the splendor of the human soul on canvas. In her Still Life series, Suzan Sevo combines color, impression and emotion, which create a natural dialogue between her paintings and the viewer. Miniatures (the tiny miracles) despite their small size, they have often inspired much larger works as they are scenes that almost instinctively wish to grow. Through her Seascapes, Sevo brings to light the similarities and parallels between the soul of man and the ocean, illustrating powerful and unpredictable emotions together with deep hidden secrets. Her Seascapes demonstrate the coexistence of man and the ocean - both with unlimited potential and mystery. Sevo's artistic journey began with Cityscapes. Over time they have become her most popular work and represent her signature style. By fusing together landscapes, architecture, and most importantly, her own perceptions, Sevo effortlessly combines reality with fantasy At first glimpse, her work invokes the viewer's natural passion, stirring an assortment of emotions, and ultimately, leaving the viewer with feelings of hope, love and beauty.
