A journey to Turkey inspired this minimal and abstract painting, featuring two legs in motion. The first word that caught my eye during this trip was "giriş," meaning entrance. This simple term sparked reflections on the countless individuals who risk their lives to leave their homeland in search of a better future. The word "entrance" suggests a transition into a new realm, which can be either better or worse. However, the experience of entering is not universal; not everyone is granted the same rights or opportunities. It’s striking to consider the paradox of a welcoming sign when, in reality, entry is often fraught with barriers and exclusions. This artwork captures the unsettling sense of standing before a gateway that promises hope, yet realizing that the journey beyond is not equally accessible to all. Human behavior, in its complexity, often defies simple logic.

I am a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. My work is characterized by a unique blend of traditional and modern techniques, which I employ to explore themes such as memory, identity, and the human condition. My work often incorporates a variety of media, including drawing, painting, and installation, which allows me to create layered, textured works that are both visually compelling and conceptually rich. One of my most significant themes is memory and I frequently explore this theme through my work. I am interested in how memories are formed and how they are linked to personal and collective identity. My work often incorporates found objects and materials, such as photographs, maps, and books, which Ι use to create collages and installations that evoke a sense of nostalgia and the passage of time. Another significant theme in my work is the human condition. I am interested in the ways in which people navigate the complexities of the modern world, and I explore this through my use of symbolism and metaphor. Many of my works depict figures in various states of vulnerability or isolation, suggesting a sense of alienation and disconnection. Overall, I am happy that my work engages with some of the most pressing issues of our time. Portfolio link: https://www.behance.net/theodoram
