About The Artwork

This is a small original watercolour painting made after a larger oil painting by Claude Monet. It remains faithful to the impressionist style and spirit of the original despite the difference in media. The watercolour was made with winsor & newton paints, on Clairefontaine paper (250g/m2 - 115lb). The painting is 19cm x 13.5cm (7.5in x 5.3in) and comes with mountboard to fit a frame 10in by 7in (25.5cm x 17.8cm).

For the past decade I have engaged in extensive sketching and drawing as a personal endeavour, reading and studying prolifically from the masters of old. Submersing oneself into art silences the constant chatter of the mind, it allows you to enter a state of flow and being without any of the trappings or disturbances of modernity. As such, it is a necessity for myself personally, to make a meaningful connection with the physical world as perceived by the senses, as well as the internal.
