Fragment Series // Stepped On

The piece was constructed with reclaimed flooring tiles. Understand the tile, “Hidden beneath the surface” comes from the beauty within. These tiles were ripped out and discarded, thrown to the trash. The artist found the beauty within the bottom of the tile in which no one realized. As they were too caught up on the shiny surface to realize what was beneath the surface. The beauty not of the actual finish surface of these titles but the underneath is where to true beauty lies. Where no one can see. The subtitle stepped on comes to play because individuals have been stepping on this art and have not even realized it until it was unturned years later. Once these tiles were removed after 10 plus years. The true identity with lies beneath. Now today brought to the surface to the light bring the tiles the recognition they deserve after being discarded. Viewing the application in which the tiles where applied viewing how the glue was applied every stroke the beauty lies within and can be expressed by the ambiguity of the piece. Finding the beauty in the true honest materials, not just the shiny surface. The artist displayed this in fragments as the tiles became fragments upon their removal. Creating a contemporary piece that would perfectly contrast a clean modern setting would be a nice contrast to really appreciate the rawness of the piece. Run your hand along the surface and fell the texture and through each of the fragments keep one’s eyes wondering fining the beauty in the non-ideal making it special.

Fascinating geometric figures articulate the contrast of black and white bold fluid and organic lining.
The letter "F" is embedded within which naturally was formed in the placement of the broken tiles. Representing the letter “F” for Fragment.

The Piece is framed in a thin very contemporary black metal from Italy, most ideal for the piece.
