About The Artwork
I had the idea for the watercolors of the series "Ice/Water Pattern" when I was taking part in a competition on the subject of "water". I did not want to depict water in some usual way or other, I rather wanted to integrate it actively into a natural creative process and "let it do the work“. It's a game with different physical states of water. After melting and drying ice cubes colored with water colors create an abstract pattern (2. photo). "Ice/Water Pattern 6" is a naturally created abstract watercolor pattern on strong handmade paper measuring approx. 70 x 55 cm.

Each work begins with the pictorial idea. It dictates the painterly form of expression and there is in this sense no external theme and no overriding idea that must be met. The image idea and the energetic effect of its execution are the subject.“
