From the Ingres series, just taking a laugh with the classics. - My Bubble Gum paintings are portraits of people who look without looking. They could spend their whole lives crouched behind their glasses, absorbed in the ritual of their gum chewing. And chewing gum is a figure of spleen, the neurotic repetition of the eternal present. There is nothing more to look at because everything is in the chewing gum. The bodies are only its extension. Because outside, whatever there be, now there is nothing.
