About The Artwork

This work is a figurative painting from the "Interior" series. It is part of the reflection of the philosopher Gaston Bachelard in his book "The poetics of space" and more particularly of "The shell". In the foreground is an armchair with armrests looking to the right, in the background a sofa looking in the same direction The framing is located low, at the height of the seats in an intimate relationship with the viewer. A plain rug defines a comfort zone on the floor. The color palette is in warm tones The title "Floating Attention" refers in psychoanalysis to the analyst's rule, in psychoanalytic treatment, of not paying attention voluntarily to one aspect or another of the associations of ideas of the patient. A detail can thus be identified and appear as the most determining element of the dream, of the associations or of the session.
