Interference Painting

This work was inspired by a trip I made through western Nevada with my two young sons. On the way, we came across a painted plywood, tourist photo prop, where the kids put their head through a cut hole so the parents can take a photo. The bitter irony of the missing face in the prop got me to thinking about the transitory moments we all have, including the people who, at one time, thought this land was theirs. We're all just passing through. While working on the painting, I thought how the influence of screen media distorts all that we see, hence the bands of reversal and the static.
