Labyrinth of Dreams Painting

This painting was started in 2019, prior to the pandemic and finally completed this year. Baldassano works on several paintings at the same time, however this painting represents many personal symbols accumulated during nearly 50 years as a professional painter. The Labyrinth appeared in his painting while he was working on making a print in Venice, Italy. It was discovered on a Cathedral in Lucca, Italy while taking a break from making the print ( a side trip). Baldassano is influenced by his travels and residencies in various countries. Even though he sketches from direct observation, his paintings are strictly from his imagination, fed by glimpses of images collected and reconfigured. Baldassano considers this particular painting very important and kind of a culmination or conclusion to a visual journey, reflecting time. Hopefully, the viewer will also enjoy this dreamlike painting and take them into another personal space.
