Landscape XI Painting

A native of Chicago, Illinois.Lives and works in Austin, Texas.A graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and of Northwestern University, I am a painter, a draftsman, and sometime printmaker.As a painter Ive been more interested in landscape and the world around me than in any other subject. Growing up along Lake Michigan, north of Chicago, I formed there an attachment to places where vast, tranquil expanses of land, water, and sky meet. My experience of these places is the basis of my work. Over time my work has become more atmospheric, tonal, abstract. My recent paintings are larger, minimal, organic, almost monochromatic. No longer naturalistic or specific, this work explores recalled environmental passages, sometimes with humor, and, I hope, in a revealing, compelling way.
