About The Artwork
A large centre piece painting from the international award winning Liberty Series. The origins of this series go back to a roll of slide film that I took in the late 1970s. For many years the slides lay undisturbed, then found and the series was born. A celebration of the freedom of floating in water and swimming naked. The linen canvas is stretched over a robust composite stretcher. The painted image is extended in the contemporary style around the outer edges and so no additional framing is necessary. Supplied ready to hang and additionally this painting could be hung either vertically or horizontally. The signature is rather cleverly place diagonally to allow for both options.

I have long been fascinated with painting water and nudes in water. I find the reflective properties, the movement and the distorting qualities of water provide me with a wealth of challenges. I find that although my aim is always to produce a high degree of realism in my paintings I am constantly using sequences of abstract shapes to achieve an effect. "Peter's work has been seen around the world. In his paintings reflections of both classical and modern interpretations can be found. With superb and interesting techniques he infuses a harmony between natural realism and the painted surface creating subtle yet dramatic imagery. Influences can be identified from many periods of art history. In particular the realism of the late nineteenth century and the photo-realism of the twentieth century."
